CNA Foundation Supports the Future of Manufacturing with $15,000 Donation

06/25/2012

CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)-- The CNA Foundation today announced that it is donating $15,000 to Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs (NBT), the educational foundation of the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International® (FMA), in support of its summer manufacturing camps. The mission of NBT is to engage, nurture and excite individuals of all ages in the pursuit of careers within the manufacturing industry.

NBT sponsors an annual series of manufacturing summer camps dedicated to educating junior high and high school students on the benefits of a career in manufacturing. This summer, campers will attend one of the eleven camps held on college campuses across the country, where they will learn specific manufacturing-related skills that will help them understand and appreciate the value of a career based on designing, planning and constructing tangible products. Camps are multifaceted and offer instruction in CAD design, welding, robotics, and a variety of manufacturing technologies, as well as practical instruction in career management and ways to harness entrepreneurial initiative.

“As one of the largest Property and Casualty insurers, we understand the importance of teaching today’s youth about the value of pursuing a career in the manufacturing industry,” said Steve Earley, vice president – underwriting, CNA. “NBT is making great strides towards filling the pipeline with enthusiastic manufacturers of tomorrow.”

Based in Rockford, Ill., the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International, is a professional organization with more than 2,300 members working together to improve the metal forming and fabricating industry. More information on NBT and how to support such programs is available by visiting www.NutsAndBoltsFoundation.org.
