CHICAGO--(BUSINESS WIRE)--
CNA HealthPro, a leader in the healthcare professional liability
industry, recently collaborated with Nurses Service Organization (NSO)
to publish a healthcare industry resource, Understanding Nurse
Liability, 2006-2010: A Three-part Approach. The report analyzes
nurse closed claims over a five-year period with an emphasis on
assisting nurses in identifying and managing risk exposures which are
most likely to affect their practices.
“This report was developed as a tool to help nurses examine their
current practices in relation to the claims and losses experienced by
their peers,” said Bruce Dmytrow, vice president - Specialty Risk
Control, CNA. “CNA and NSO are dedicated to ensuring that nurses and the
healthcare industry have the necessary patient safety and risk control
resources to identify exposures, create a safer patient experience and
promote quality care services.”
Through the NSO program, CNA is the nation’s largest underwriter of
professional liability insurance coverage for individual nurses. These
nurses work in a variety of specialties and locations including
hospitals, nursing homes, practitioner offices, schools, medical spas
and ambulatory care centers.
In addition to analyzing reported claim events from CNA-insured nurses,
the collaborative resource includes:
-
Risk control recommendations and a self-assessment checklist
-
NSO’s analysis of nurse license protection paid claims
-
Highlights from NSO’s 2011 Qualitative Nurse Work Profile Survey
