CNA Launches New Crisis Management Coverage

06/09/2014

CHICAGO, June 9, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- CNA today announced the launch of its new Crisis Management coverage designed to help manufacturers manage the negative media that arises from third party allegations that a product contains a defect, deficiency or inadequacy.

"Many of our manufacturing clients are privately held mid-sized businesses that have worked for decades to build a solid brand reputation, and we wanted to ensure that they have the resources they need to quickly respond to the public during a crisis," said Steven Earley, Vice President of underwriting and segment leader for Manufacturing, CNA.

Certain reimbursable expenses that could arise in a crisis event include:

  • Hiring a law firm, crisis management firm or public relations firm to provide media management services to maintain and restore public confidence following a crisis;
  • Setting up call centers to manage inquiries from those impacted by the crisis; and,
  • Delivering notification letters to individuals impacted by the crisis.

The Crisis Management coverage compliments a set of General Liability, Umbrella and Paramount® Property coverage endorsements already available to manufacturers in addition to a suite of related services to address manufacturers' needs. These services include a combination of CNA Risk Control and Allied Vendors resources, namely:

  • Business continuity risk advice
  • Turn-key product recall management
  • Food safety testing, consulting and auditing services to help manage supply chain quality issues and to support recall crisis management

"This is our latest update in a series of enhancements as part of our continuing effort to provide the best product and services to the manufacturing industry," added Earley. "Before, during or after a crisis, CNA specialists work with manufacturers to recover quickly – not just by a loss payment, but with services and preventive actions that strive to maintain the company's stability, protect its hard earned brand reputation, and ultimately keep the company in business."

Over the past few years, CNA has made enhancements on several of its manufacturing forms, which included the launch of CNA Paramount, the company's new proprietary package policy for mid-sized businesses, as well as Enhanced Dependent Property Time Element Coverage; First and Third Party Product Recall Expense and Manufacturers Errors & Omission coverage.
