CNA Celebrates Annual U.S. Manufacturing Day

10/02/2015

CHICAGO, Oct. 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- CNA today announced its support of Manufacturing Day, the annual day dedicated to highlighting the important role the manufacturing industry plays in the United States economy and in the lives of many Americans. On Friday, October 2, 2015, hundreds of manufacturers are scheduled to open their doors to host open houses, public tours, career workshops and other events in an effort to foster interest in manufacturing careers.

"The misperception of manufacturing environments as antiquated factories staffed by low-skilled workers continues," said Franklin Maccotan, director and industry leader, Manufacturing, CNA. "Manufacturing Day addresses this misperception and provides manufactures with an opportunity to connect directly with job seekers and students to showcase the modern facilities and demonstrate technologies used in today's operations. Manufacturing Day is a celebration of modern manufacturing meant to inspire the next generation of manufacturers."

Manufacturing Day participants will learn about career opportunities, on- and off-site professional training and development opportunities, and resources to help advance a career in manufacturing. CNA and the Fabricators & Manufacturers Association, International® (FMA) are co-sponsoring a Manufacturing Day event on November 14, at Mitsubishi in Wood Dale, IL

Manufacturing Day is co-produced by several leading manufacturing organizations, including the FMA, the National Association of Manufacturers, The Manufacturing Extension Partnership (MEP) and the Manufacturing Institute. It is supported by dozens of national and regional manufacturing associations and companies, including CNA.

CNA has been the preferred business insurance provider of the FMA for more than 20 years. In addition, over the past five years, CNA has supported summer manufacturing camps for Nuts, Bolts and Thingamajigs (NBT), FMA's educational foundation. The mission of NBT is to engage, nurture and excite individuals of all ages in the pursuit of careers within the manufacturing industry.
